On May 21, the 2022 National Science and Technology Week, with the theme of "Into Science and Technology, You and Me", kicked off in cities around China.
The aim of the week is to let children learn from life through various activities and increase their ability to use their hands and brains.
As a national science education base, Shinho Food Discovery Centre launched the Science Month activities with the theme of "Experience Science and Technology, Walk with Shinho", where children toured the soy sauce fermentation base to learn about the mysteries of food up close.
Discover pieces of science in life
There are so many mysteries of life that we observe and experience every day, and finding them out for yourself is a great exercise to discover science. Take a picture or draw a sketch of something related to science and technology in your life, and come along with your questions to find the answers at the soy sauce fermentation base!
Through a "hands-on problem-solving" approach, children will learn about the little secrets of science in their lives and feel the convenience that technology brings to their lives.
Put whimsical ideas into practice
Knowledge is not only in books but also in practice.
Through hand-making zongzi (steamed sticky rice balls) and "turning waste into treasure" activities, the children were able to experience the traditional festival culture, practice their hands-on skills, and develop good habits in environmental protection through their whimsical ideas. The zongzi they made with their parents tasted great!
Comprehensive learning of food science
Shinho also went to the Yantai Institute of Technology to convey the importance of food safety to teachers and students, to experience the charm of the mobile cooking classroom together, and to taste the special soy sauce ice cream and other delicacies.
While enriching their food knowledge and experiencing the charms of food, they discovered that school life could be great fun despite the pandemic!
Knowledge is actually "hidden" in our lives, and Shinho hopes to pass on comprehensive food education to more families through the little things.
