Shinho's Successful Challenge of World's Largest Display of Chun Bing
Media Coverage CONG BAN LVOn May 30th, China Chef's Festival was held in Yantai. As a co-organizer, Shinho participated in the challenge of world's largest display of Chun Bing. Almost 100 chefs cooked ingredients and assembled this huge Chun Bing display. The challenge was also welcomed by almost a thousand of locals and college students, who came to cheer for the attempt of traditional Shandong food making the league of Guinness Records. As the perfect companion for Chinese onion, Cong Ban Lv fermented soy sauce adds another dimension of deliciousness to the Chun Bing. Many news outlets including NetEase News, Information Times and Qilu Evening News covered this successful Guinness record attempt.
As one of the participants, Shinho's leader thinks that trying to break a record with food has become a trend, but the Chun Bing are more than food, they are also a representation of Chinese food culture. As sauces have been deeply embedded in Chinese culture for the past 3,000 years, and the eating habit of Chinese onions with fermented soybean sauce is also around for over 3,000 years. The reason why some simple food like this can be passed down for thousands of years and liked by people, is because it carries the footprints of people and nature in harmony, and it boasts a common food culture of the human being. Today, the fact that Shandong Chun Bing are listed in Guinness World Records set up a bridge for Chinese food culture with the world, it is an important part of our history as well as a new starting point to further enhance the culture of fermented sauces. The attempt has also received support and guidance from Yantai municipal Government, Yantai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and is part of Shinho's plan to forge Yantai to be the city of Shandong cuisine.
The Guinness World Records adjudicator for the event, Ms. Lisa Hoffman said:"Chun Bing represent Shandong's food culture, and is an important part of traditional Chinese food. Every kind of food demonstrates their essence of local culture, and reflects the value system on a local level. We believe that Chinese food will go global someday and win hearts from people all over the world.”
As an important event on the calendar of 24th Chef's Festival, it has drawn attention and participation from the whole country. The audience on site did not only saw the grand view of a Chinese Chun Bing Panorama, which was made of hundreds of Chun Bing, they also sampled different Chun Bing styles from different places of the country.
