'Welcome!' Beijing Michelin Guide

Brand Activity
On November 28, the first version of the 2020 Beijing Michelin Guide made an official release.
As the only official condiment partner in mainland China for the Michelin Guide, Shinho witnessed this significant moment in the culinary industry.
During Beijing's thousand-year-long history, it has always been a place where national and international flavours come together. Dishes originating from different ethnic minority groups co-exist in a harmony of ever influencing, fusion and elevating each other, which led to the creation of unique and diverse Beijing flavours. What magic will the international food bible the Michelin Guide's trip to Beijing yield? We will reveal the answer to that question right now.

Find beauty and meet classics

The first version of 2020 Beijing Michelin Guide has listed 23 restaurants; these are: one three-stars restaurant is Xin Rong Ji (Xinyuan South Road); two two-stars restaurants are Cai Yi Xuan and Cui Hua Lou; 20 one-star restaurants are Da Dong (Gongti East Road), Da Dong (Dongsi 10th Alley), Family Li Imperial Cuisine (Xi Cheng), Fu Chun Ju, Huaiyang Fu, Il Ristorante-Niko Romito, In Love (Gongti East Road), Jing Yaa Tang, Lao Ji Tang, Lei Garden (Jinbao Tower), Mio, Poetry‧Wine, Seventh Son, Sheng Yong Xing, The Beijing Kitchen, The Georg, Xin Rong Ji (Jianguomenwai Street), Xin Rong Ji (Jinrong Street).
Aside from the above restaurants, the Michelin Guide also introduced 15 restaurants awarded with Bib Gourmand distinction previously. These are mostly local Beijing styled restaurants that hide in hutong and side streets that offer low cost, excellent quality food that is crowd favourites.
Beijing cuisine is defined by its long history, depth of flavours and professional techniques. For thousands of years, cultures from around the world are brought to Beijing by visitors to foster exchange and communications, forming a food culture that is 'taking the best from everyone with a graceful, unique and balanced style'. The first Beijing Miche Guide is the best compliment to Beijing's culinary scene.

genius in a dish's look, smell and taste

Shinho WEI DA MEI works with chefs and artists to take our 'WEI for you, a beauty that touches hearts' Initiative.
We invited young artist Huang Yulong to design Shinho's display. He is a firm believer of a trendy Chinese style defined by Chinese culture. Chefs work in the same way as artists; every dish they design respects the tradition while modernises the recipe. Every plate of food is art, served to touch hearts.
At Shinho's display, four Guardian Gods stand opposite to a screen playing videos of famous chefs. The artistic design breaks the stereotypical image the public has about chefs; it introduces the audience to think more about this profession. Shinho WEI DA MEI is capable of finding beauty in the world; we utilise this ability to inspire, to guide and to help more people to advance in their journey to express beauty.

Food as art

As the night descended, Xin Jing Yi dinner party opened at Beijing Four Seasons Hotel. The beautifully constructed setting of a traditional Chinese mansion with a red-painted and rivet-studded great door, square-shaped lanterns and perfume bags... Shinho also brought condiments designed for the event with six Michelin star chefs to cook up food to remember!
Shinho's WEI DA MEI was created to 'empower chefs'. We will continue to help the chefs who use everything in their power to create great flavours for eaters. We hope their endeavours can help drive China's culinary industry to the next level. We will be there hand in hand with them.
